THE
LIVING PRACTICE
Yoga was never meant to be a class we simply attend. It was meant to become the way we pay attention — to our bodies, our relationships and the way we move through the world.
Living Practice is a six-month immersion exploring philosophy, movement, breath, anatomy + the art of carrying yoga into everyday life.

Why This Exists
For years, our teacher training followed a familiar path—weekends filled with anatomy, alignment, sequencing, and philosophy.
Those things matter.
But over time, we began to see the importance in spending less time trying to create teachers... and more time cultivating students.
Because yoga has never been passed down through information alone.
It has always been passed from teacher to student through practice, relationship, observation, and conversation.
Living Practice was created to honor that tradition.
Inspired in part by the apprenticeship model of Pilates education, it is designed as a slower, more immersive way to study
—where movement, philosophy, reading, reflection,
and mentorship exist alongside one another.
Before we ask students to teach, we ask them to become deeply curious, practice consistently, question generously. and carry the practice with care.
Great teachers aren't defined by how much they know.
They're defined by their willingness to remain students.

Integrate
Each Month We will:
An Immersion Built Differently
Study
Understanding doesn't happen
all at once.
By gathering monthly, there's time to read, reflect, practice and return—allowing ideas to settle before moving on.
Practice
Your personal practice is where the learning comes alive.
This is a student-centered immersion. Your experience on the mat becomes the foundation for
everything else.
Community
Learning doesn't end when
the weekend does.
It continues through conversation, mentorship, and shared practice.
Stewardship
To study yoga is to receive something worth caring for.
We honor that responsibility by passing the practice forward with care, humility and integrity.
The Rhythm.
Six Immersions. Six Months.
A rhythm of study, practice + return.
Living Practice unfolds over 6 monthly immersions from January through June. Each month, we gather virtually during the week for conversation, study and exploration, then come together in person
over the weekend to put what we're learning into action.

What We'll Explore
Living Practice moves between the philosophical + the physical
— giving us time to understand the teachings, experience them in practice,
and consider what they mean in the way we live.
ACROSS OUR SIX IMMERSIONS, WE’LL EXPLORE:
PHILOSOPHY + THE LIVING TRADITION
The Yoga Sutras, the Eight Limbs, yoga history, ethics + the philosophical roots of practice.
MOVEMENT + ANATOMY
Posture, alignment, functional anatomy + movement explored through practice rather than memorization.
BREATH + THE NERVOUS SYSTEM
Pranayama, respiratory anatomy + the relationship between breath, attention and the nervous system.
MEDITATION + THE SUBTLE BODY
Meditation, energetic practices + the quieter dimensions of yoga.
READING + INQUIRY
Shared reading is woven throughout Living Practice. Each immersion includes a weekend "book club" to gather around texts that illuminate yoga philosophy, practice + the experience of being human — not simply to finish a book, but to question it, discuss it + live with it between our gatherings.
PRACTICE + INTEGRATION
Developing a personal practice and exploring how yoga moves with us beyond the mat.

What if I want to teach?
Understudy
An apprenticeship in the art of teaching.
Living Practice is complete in itself.
You do not need to want to teach to belong here.
But for some, a deeper relationship with practice eventually becomes a desire to share it.
Understudy is the second part of our teacher certification pathway
— an apprenticeship designed to move you gradually from student → observer → assistant → teacher.
Rather than learning to teach primarily in a classroom,
you'll learn by staying close to the practice and working alongside experienced teachers.
THE APPRENTICESHIP INCLUDES
PERSONAL PRACTICE
Continue as a student through 40 hours of documented personal practice + reflection.
OBSERVATION
Step outside your own practice and begin studying the craft of teaching — language, pacing, sequencing, presence + how a teacher holds a room.
ASSISTED TEACHING
Move gradually into the teaching space through preparation, assisting, teaching portions of class + post-class reflection with a mentor.
THE CRAFT OF TEACHING
Explore sequencing, hands-on support + the practical skills involved in building and leading a thoughtful class.
MOVEMENT FOUNDATIONS
Complete independent study in functional movement + anatomy, building the body literacy that supports intelligent teaching.
ASSESSMENT + MENTORSHIP
Receive feedback throughout the apprenticeship as you develop your own voice, culminating in progressive teaching assessments.

Understudy is a program to nourish your dharma
for teaching.
96 HOURS · APPRENTICESHIP + MENTORSHIP
Together, Living Practice + Understudy form our 200-hour teacher certification pathway.
You don't have to decide now.
