Join us for seven days in the Alentejo region of Portugal, known as the last unspoiled stretch of Atlantic Ocean coast in all of southern Europe.  From amazing yoga to beaches, hiking, and adventure...this is what your soul is asking for!
September 7th-14th, 2024

Some trips are just special...and this is one.

I've been leading retreats for ten years and have been fortunate to travel to amazing places all over the world but there is one attribute I seek, and sometimes can't find...Cocoon offers it in spades.

Cocoon Portugal is a 275 acre coastal farm + retreat, offering inspiration + community. It's also pure magic, where between the oversized hammocks and the freshwater lake, you'll start to lose track of time. The kind of place where each morning is a celebration, practicing under the canopy of old growth pines, but so is each evening, with world class wine and fascinating dinner conversation.

Cocoon's secret ingredient - the thing I think makes a retreat feel magical - is how close knit the team is and how close knit we all start to become.  It's not something you can replicate in a resort hotel.  It's the feeling of staying with family, but better...because the space is beautiful and there is plenty of room for your privacy and a shared goal of decompression.

Join us as we head back to Cocoon in September 2024. We'll be situated on the breathtaking Atlantic coast of Portugal, near the charming fishing village of Zambujeira do Mar, in the Alentejo region, which is known for its long stretches of untouched coastline and charming villages. Our 11 bedroom, 10 bathroom property will be all ours...each morning we'll start the day with a strong and steady {sacred}flow practice. We'll end the day with softer touches of yin, restorative and yoga nidra.

In between - there is tons of free time to explore an area heralded as the last untouched stretch of coast in Southern Europe.

We call this retreat SOULITUDE because the area is so quaint and untouched it feels like a place we would go to escape and get space yet...with a full week of yoga & adventure with amazing people - you won't be alone.  Community & Connection abound - which will leave your soul feeling full.

What will my week look like?

We believe yoga retreats shouldn't take themselves too seriously - after all yoga is about balance and aligning our many sides as human beings.  Each morning will start with yoga at either the indoor or outdoor yoga shalas.

These facilities are beautiful, too.

The indoor shala is light filled and has enough windows and doors for the air to circulate freely. The floor is hand-made traditional Portuguese Santa Catarina tiles, which are both beautiful and a joy to practice on. The outdoor shala has wood floors, and is shaded by a handful of old-growth pines. The outdoor shala has no walls, and is a 3 minute walk from the house. It’s especially wonderful for morning practice, as the fog rolls in.

Each day you'll enjoy three farm-to-table meals each day. From a sustainability standpoint, Cocoon chooses to not serve red meat, pork or poultry. They do serve eggs, locals cheeses, and occasionally wild-caught Atlantic fish. A typical breakfast includes eggs, local fruit, Greek yogurt, homemade granola, local honey, homemade jam, slow-rise bread, and a daily tonic. Lunch is often a bowl; a base of ancient grains like farro, topped with avocado, roasted veggies, nori, or mixed greens. For dinner, expect Indian + Japanese curries, Mediterranean stews, legumes, rice, salad and dessert. And...there is also an outdoor, wood-fired Pizza oven. Once you confirm your booking, we’ll work with you in terms of meal plan, dietary restrictions, and timing. We’re comfortable with accommodating dietary restrictions such as gluten free and vegan.

Between meals Portugal is yours to explore...  Hop of one of the bicycles to explore the area. Help us collect eggs from the chickens. Skinny dip in the pristine freshwater lake, or simply daydream in oversized hammocks... We’ll be just 10 minutes drive from the beach. Praia de Malhao is a favorite - a fabulous untouched beach, perfect for surfing, swimming, or sunbathing. There's also world-class hiking, on the famed Costa Vicentina trail.  As part of our week we offer two group excursions...hiking and a picnic at a hidden swimming hole.

Once registered, we will contact you to confirm your reservations and welcome you to our retreat.  A full itinerary (that shows each days activity) will be available two months prior to departure with a precise timeline for each day provided three weeks prior to departure.  We will communicate with you prior to then to get dietary restrictions, yoga history (so we include your favorite postures!), emergency contact info, liability release (if you are new to sacred thread), flight details and contact info.

Deposits and payments are fully non-refundable. All terms & conditions are listed at check out. Even with precautions we cannot eliminate your risk in acquiring COVID during your travels.  We assume no liability for exposures or trip disruption due to acquiring covid.

Payment plans are available for early bookers.  Please remember when entering a payment plan you are liable for the full amount of the trip even if you're unable to attend.  Future payments will continue to bill. If you know you are unable to attend and would like us to try to help "resell" your spot we are able to assist for a $300 marketing fee.  In order to do this we require pre-payment of the marketing fee and a written release of the spot.

We highly recommend private travel insurance.

Coming solo but on a budget?  Reserve a shared room and we will place you with a roommate.  Most of our retreat goers book shared rooms and typically don't have a "pre-arranged" roommate.  We host a Pre-trip meet up so you'll get the opportunity to make friends in advance if that's important to you.  If we are not able to place you with a roommmate, please note you will be upgraded to a single room rate. Failure to pay the additional cost at least four weeks prior to arrival in Portugal will result in forfeiting your room and payments.
